What do you do with an abandoned mall, unused big-box retail and strip center, empty green space and an out-of-date subdivsion? Well, a lot. Under guidance of renowed planner/designer Andres Duany, Doucet & Associates is currently working with a project team on re-creating an urban neighborhood in Windcrest, Texas. The plans for this project, on 303 acres, include 3,700 residential units and 1 million s.f. of retail and office space. Community members, designers and investors call it a case study for "New Urbanism" and a catalyst for economic rebirth in Northeast Bexar County.
